Block Yard is different from the other ghmun projects. There's no data, no map, no quiz questions. It's an interactive landing page built with nothing but Three.js: an 88×28×88 voxel world where you break and stack blocks with the mouse. One HTML file, no build step. No filings to check sources against, no coordinates to verify, so I thought it would be easy. I was half right.
It used to be 44 blocks wide
The first world was 44×28×44. It didn't take long to walk all the way around it. So I doubled the width and depth to 88. The height stayed at 28. That made the ground four times larger, and I had to push back the distance where fog starts by the same amount. Otherwise the bigger land would be hidden in fog and you wouldn't notice it got bigger. What I thought would be a one-line change dragged the fog distance along with it.
The terrain is generated from the same seed every time
No map is stored on a server. Every time the page opens, the terrain is computed on the spot from a fixed seed (20260902). Layers of grass, dirt, and stone, with a few trees planted on top. There are nine block types: grass, dirt, stone, log, leaves, planks, sand, glass, and light. What you break and build, though, is saved in your browser. Come back later and the tower you stacked is still there. If you want to get rid of it, hit "Reset terrain" on the start screen and it goes back to the seed terrain.
Built as a front page, not a game
The start screen card carries the number "SHEET 01" and the title "Build your first page yourself." That's because it wasn't planned as a game but as a landing page you could put on the front of any site. There's no score and no goal. Walking speed is 5.2 blocks per second, 8.4 when you sprint with Shift, and 11 in flight mode. Glass blocks are translucent so you can see through them, and the light block is yellow with four white dots. It's called a light, but it doesn't actually light up anything around it. If your device is in dark mode, the sky turns to evening colors too. All nine block patterns were drawn pixel by pixel in code, with no image files. Using no image files at all meant no paths could ever break, an advantage I only discovered later when it moved.
You couldn't move with the Korean input method on
This one's my fault. I was reading key input from the e.key value, but with the Korean input method on, pressing W puts 'ㅈ' (the Korean letter on that key) into e.key instead of 'w'. So anyone using a Korean keyboard could press WASD all they liked and stay standing in place. No error, either. It just quietly didn't move. It's a little embarrassing that a Korean site didn't account for the Korean keyboard. I switched every check to e.code, which gives the physical key position instead of the character. WASD, Space, Shift, F, Esc, and the number keys 1 to 9, all of them.
block.ghmun.com is gone
At first it lived on its own subdomain, block.ghmun.com. Later, when Nyang Finder, Bloom Sudoku, and KBO Deok were gathered under play.ghmun.com, this moved along with them to play.ghmun.com/block. I deleted the old subdomain without a redirect, and deleted its separate repository and deployment project too. The other three need a Vite build, but this is a single file, so I added a separate option to the build script to "just copy the folder, no build."
It isn't wearing ghmun's clothes yet
At the top of the code there's a separate config object called SITE, set up so you can reuse it on another site by changing just the wordmark and the top menu labels. But right now it still has the name "Block Yard" and an "About / Work / Notes / Contact" menu with no links behind it. There's no link back to ghmun.com yet.
How to use it
Press "Enter" on the start screen and the mouse cursor locks to the screen and the controls start. Move with W·A·S·D and hold Shift to sprint. Space is jump, F is flight mode. Left-click breaks a block and right-click places one; pick the block to place with the number keys 1–9 or the mouse wheel. Press Esc to go back to the start screen. On a phone, move with the virtual stick on the left and use the place, break, and jump buttons on the right.
